Hello everyone. I'm checking in after what has been a really busy week. I feel that we all have had to deal with some challenges this past week. For most of you, it's been the lousy weather... the crazy snow storm that we had last weekend and the rain during the week I'm sure reminded all of us of where we live. It sure didn't help that we were "teased" with the prior twoish weeks of relatively great weather (heck, even I had to sneak in a one hour road ride...). Looking back, it now seemed like some cruel joke. The silver lining relating to the weather this past week was that I was able to put a significant dent in the work that I had scheduled without the added pressure of super-quick turn-arounds that I am known for. This being said, I still promissed and delivered a couple of jobs that didn't have any wiggle room nor any time for an appearance by Mr. Murphy. All jobs completed and delivered as promised.
Now for an update. I'm STILL waiting on that freehub body and upgraded rebuild kit for that Ritchey rear wheel that I posted about last week (scroll down a bit...). Come on guys... How can you reapeatedly drop the ball on your wheels. I am not happy about this and neather is my client. I haven't been too impressed with Treks performance in regards to their warranty/customer service. I'm currently completing a built for a client that has waited 18+ weeks to get his warranty replacement and upgraded Trek Top Fuel 100 frame. When they finally shipped his frame to a local dealer, it was damaged (the scratches and gouges in the paint was actually under the bubble wrap... which means that it happen at the factory.) The second frame had a scratch on the top tube...strike two (actually strike 19...). The third frame also came shipped with a paint chip on the rear shock mount.... I've seen frames made and painted in taiwan delivered without any paint damage. What's up with this Trek?!?! I want to be proud and assured that the "Handmade in the USA" decal means that it's going to be a superior product. I want you to care about what you ship out to your customers. I know that it's a mountain bike frame and it's more than likely going to get scratched during the maiden ride, but it's really a matter of principle... That is all. Thanks for reading. -John
